US Army Commemorative Coin
On 1 December 2008, President George W. Bush signed into law the “United States Army Commemorative Coin Act of 2008,” authorizing the creation of a series of commemorative coins to recognize and celebrate the establishment of the United States Army in 1775, and to honor the service and sacrifice of American Soldiers of both past and present, in wartime and in peace
The establishment of Public Law 110-450 by the President follows the unanimous passage of the Coin Act – H.R. 5714 – by the House of Representatives on 3 October and the Senate on 18 November.
The Army coins will be offered for sale to the public by the US Mint during 2011. Such sales are expected to garner up to $12 million towards construction of the National Museum of the US Army.
The Foundation wishes to thank all those who had a hand in helping to get this important legislation passed. Thanks in part to letters of support that were forwarded to Members of the United States Congress, we can now announce that the legislative effort has been successful.
